The National Center for Health and Justice Integration for Suicide Prevention (NCHATS)

NCHATS goal is to build information bridges between health care organizations and criminal legal systems to identify individuals at risk for suicide and connect them to care, evaluating both the clinical and cost-effectiveness of suicide prevention practices in this context.

  • Center Projects

    The center is working on four key projects to sync screening and services in real-time utilizing data linkage and automation to improve mental health treatment.

  • Pilot Projects

    NCHATS pilot projects focus on suicide prevention through using criminal legal system data to identify individuals who are at-risk for suicide and connect them with care. The pilot projects use innovative, scalable approaches that focus on implementation science, data linkage, and health system collaboration. Pilot project institutions are University of Illinois Chicago, UCLA, University of Delaware, and RAND.
